When Marco Polo journeyed to the Far East, he heard stories of the wonderful invention called "fireworks." He begged his hosts for a demonstration, and always they said "Not here, later in your journeys."
Well, it *became* later in his journeys, yet still he was told "Not here, not now."
Eventually he became frustrated and asked his hosts where and when he could see a demonstration of fireworks.
"Oh, next week we will take you to Chu-Lai, and you can see the fireworks there?" His host replied.
"What's in Chu-Lai? Why there?" Marco asked.
"There's a minor castle where we build the rockets. We always launch from there, and all the people to watch. It's tradition...
After all, everyone knows we shoot off fireworks on the Fort of Chu-Lai!"

Re: Marco Polo and fireworks
I dunno if China held whats now Vietnam during Polo's travels but there IS a Chu-Lai there, and it's seen a fair share of fireworks. Ask any old 1960's-1970's Marine about it....
I'm not old--It's too early to be this late.
