This is one of the more fun tropes to come out of /TG:
Humanity, Fuck yeah!

There was a story back in the 70's/early 80's in IIRC, Isaac Asimov's SF magazine.
Aliens pull a soldier out of one of the assault waves at Normandy for examination on the theory that he was going to die and would not be missed.
He happened to be an SF fan and spun them tales of ray guns, ships, "sun bombs" etc from the stores of Gernsback, Campbell, Heinlein, etc. He almost had them going when one says, "wait a minute, if you have those things why were you and your fellows using such primitive weapons in the time and place we pulled you from?"
His reply was that was entertainment, what humans do for fun. Using ray guns and sun bombs wasn't sporting you know. Takes all the fun out of it.
He was sent back to die at his original time, content knowing the aliens had decided to look elsewhere for a planet to conquer.

I saw a trivia question (maybe Jeopardy?) a couple months ago that went something like "Horse, cheetah or human, which would win a marathon." Amazed my wife when I told her the human was the only one likely to FINISH a marathon and survive, and that dogs (descended from wolves of course) were the only animal that could come close to keeping up with us, stamina-wise.
Yeah, there's a reason why we're at the top of the food chain, despite not having big scary teeth or claws, not being particularly strong.

Here's a story you might enjoy 'Danger - Human' by Gordon Dickson.

See if you can find
With Friends Like These by Allen Dean Foster - A bunch of clueless aliens are besieged by another alien race, called "Yops", and the first group is made desperate enough to release the most dangerous creatures in the galaxy from their home world turned prison... They at first have doubts about the reputed ferocity of their new "ally", until they see a small child mindflay a Yop Warband...

There actually is an SF series loosely based on this concept. The Human Chronicles by T.R. Harris, I believe that it is only available on Kindle. The premise is that Earth has the highest gravity of any other planet to evolve intelligent life. This means that humans are faster, stronger, tougher and more coordinated than anything else out there.

Everybody forgets that Humans are the freaks of the animal world in terms of performance - IIRC, only chimps beat us in terms of total energy output per kilo of mass, and they have neither the fine motor control(what they had to sacrifice in order to get all that strength) nor the endurance of
Homo Sapiens

Not even remotely close. We are near the bottom of the list. Yeasts produce way more energy per lb.
