Preferably applied sideways?
In an intimate way, yes.
I don't think it really matters. :ugeek:

It does when we're dealing with something that needs to be fucked sideways with a chainsaw. ;)

As one of the few posters, I'm guessing, who's actually witnessed a chainsaw being used on a corpse... (Dead deer)

There are faster options, and clean up is a real issue - reciprocating didn't do much better.

An actual ax would be rather unwieldy, I suspect, but a hatchet is another matter entirely.

Video of various Cold Steel hawks and hatchets

Then there was the movie the Viking where the most noticeable use of the Norse bearded axe was the drawbridge scene. In which the Vikings threw axes into a drawbridge to form climbing handles. At the time I was more interested Janet Leigh's assets. I first saw it with an all male audience. "Not surprised Curtis was almost devoured by crabs." Kurt Douglas in a dramatic pose holds up a sword, "Take 5, smoke if you got them."

"Bearded Axe" one of my old girl friends' mother or possibly something I met in my youth after over indulgence with alcohol.
