This photo also explains why they closed down NAS Alameda Point. As many of you know, it's located right across the San Francisco Bay from San Francisco. Imagine the views one could have seen when the inhabitants of San Francisco learned that a giant metal box full of seamen in sailor's uniforms was coming to town!
