By the way, what's with the current infatuation with a zombie apocalypse? I don't get the obsession.

The way the average citizen ignores the world and whats around them ( systemic financial melt down, multiple wars, very large unemployment, rapidly increasing energy prices, and much more government in your daily life ) , and add to that the flesh eating in Miami, and you have a fad.

There's also a bit of encoded meaning... think of zombies as the more surly variety of tax consumer.

A lot of folks, by turning it into a Zombie game, are using it as a socially acceptable cover for preparations that are mocked and looked down upon by the the majority of sheep that spend their lives in Condition White, and don't want to be reminded how clueless/vulnerable they are.

That, and talking about and practicing shooting zombies is more socially acceptable in some circles than shooting looters and other 2 legged predators.

I like the motto "If you're prepared for the Zombie Apocalypse, a hurricane is just another day".

Heh. I remember reading a short story about a guy who asked everyone what their zombie contingency plan was, since pretty much everyone has one, or can make a simple one up on the fly for the sake of conversation. In the end of the story, he used what he'd learned from a teenage girl at a party to steal her parents' gun along with some food and kidnapped her little brother.
