Well my old gimme SUV fell apart. First I had a tire delaminate, the right front. Then the brakes started going spongy, then I started getting overheat symptoms. It turned out that my brake master cylinder was worn out, that I had a "soft" brake line on the left rear brake, the right rear drive seal was leaking, and my rear brakes were incredibly oily and dirty. The overheat was not being caused by a bad fan clutch as I had hoped but by freeze plugs on the right side that had developed pin holes from corrosion. Anyhow even though I shopped around the price of repairs was way more than I had and I didn't want to leave it setting around the apartment parking lot paying insurance on it. Also it would never get past inspection which is coming up quickly. So beset by problems on both the left and the right, I thought, "What would David Axlerod do?"
So I put a Clinton sticker on it and sold it for parts.

Yes the wheels on the bus came flying off, right at the edge of the cliff."
So this is how it feels

If time, chance and random process can produce a platypus why not an ammo tree?

The Clinton sticker was a nice touch...

The thing that really browned me off is that it had a rebuilt engine and transmission in it. As little as I drive I was sure I could get another four years out of it.......Hmmm, another parallel?

hmmm,
master cylinder
flex brake line
axle seal
freeze plugs
scrap
I dunno dude, wish you'd brought this up earlier. Still you may come out pretty well. Parting it yourself can pay off pretty well if you've got the time and spot to park it long enough.
Good luck with ya.

That's the big down side on living in an apartment complex. About the only thing they'll let me do is change a tire. The other thing is that while I'm not as weak as I was, I still don't have much endurance and flexibility. The upside is I'm in walking distance of a super Wally World and my bank and three fast food joints. There is a bus stop right out side the complex also. This place is a lot smaller than my old one so I'm saving on my electric bill and my rent. Not having to pay car insurance for a while will help also. My doctor and the cataract surgeon I'm going to see are reachable by bus. All in all I'm in not bad a shape.

Yeah, well that all really puts a crimp in it -- limits your options. Wish we were all congregated closer and could rally to these sorts of things as they arise.
