Couple things I've noticed in this game:

1.) Shoot the ones rising up from the ground first. It only takes one revolver shot.

2.) Shoot the ones with claws in the head, then the chest. Two shots are all it takes.

3.) The ones with a single swinging severed arm are a bit trickier, but if you shoot them in the arm, it only takes one more shot to take them down.

3.) The big hulking guys can be pushed back with gut shots.

4.) You shotgun (shift key) needs to be reloaded before the next stage. Unlike your revolver, it is not automatically reloaded at the start of each stage, which really sucks when you need it in a hurry. So even though ammo is limited, waste a few shots to reload at the end of each stage.

5.) Don't waste shotgun ammo on the rising ones. Remember, they only take one revolver shot.

Farthest I've gotten is Stage 16.
