This isn't the first Paintball sentry gun I've seen, and it's one of the most expensive ones.

Personally, I wonder who their gonna sell it to..

I think that we discussed autonomous weapons systems before and for one reason or another it was determined that they were illegal. I would think that adapting this system for a real gun would be fairly easy, and because of that these fellows may have a visit from the constabulary in their future. I may be completely wrong about this, and if I am please correct me.

Spring guns/trap guns, etc have been held to be illegal since they pose a risk to "first responders"... Now, in the cases we covered, the people injured were thieves, but that's the logic used by the courts. This applied to a gun which was aimed away from the entrance -- the bullet bounced back off a tree and hit the intruder...

this is one designed for sporting, i cannot imagine that they are doing anything illegal.

i remember seeing a video of either an IDPA or USPSA match where there was a paintball remote gun shooting back at you.. i believe it was a national match.

If they're aiming this at paintball players, they're out of their mind - nobody is going to spring for that, and I doubt the fields will allow them because of liability issues.

+1 on the pepper-balls. I wonder if DARPA would be interested in their work....
