That stuff is a fairly specialized resin not intended to be used with fillers or in applications requiring a lot of strength, particularly given it is only a 1:1 mix resin. It's basically for what it says, coating table tops, etc. With something like a 2:1 marine epoxy resin you are getting into some strength potential. A 5:1 resin like West is going to be strong and probably a bit harder than a 2:1 but also not really necessary here.
Mostly I use West simply because I can get it here locally without special shipping, since we have a West Marine store in Anchorage. If I were down south I would probably have used something like this on my boat project instead:

I used the Raka resin 20+ years ago on a couple earlier boat projects before shipping got stupid, and it worked fine. I suspect the BBC resin is the same stuff relabeled.
Just don't try to use resin as a glue without adding a filler to thicken it. In its unthickened state, it is meant more for use in laminating fiberglass cloth.
