I told my boy the score was too close so I'm not going to let him carry-on while home for Christmas. Figured I can make sure he has a real Plebe year for at least a coupleweeks.

Caught most of the first half before I had chores. Army was giving Navy what for, at least until I turned it off.

What happened? Navy was a 16-point favorite, going in.

Army started by blocking a punt and taking it to the house. They were running a very strong, aggressive defense.

Army wanted it A LOT more. The brigade was dead. It looked like they were watching a funeral. The corps of cadets was fired up.

Myself and an '08 grad watched it together. Our line was being destroyed. We barely ran the option, instead trying to send everything up the middle, while we were losing ground on every snap.

The play of the game was our coach calling timeout right before Army completed a 4th down attempt, breaking their momentum. It completely changed the game. They controlled the whole first half. Army came to win. The brigade came to watch a football game that they didn't care about.

Concur, that called time-out was the momentum changer, and if I was the ref, I wouldn't have allowed it. Watching the replay a half-dozen times, the ball was moving in the snap when the time-out was called, the play had begun, and Army made the first down.

That changed the whole game, and Navy came back to win it. Army was fairly one-dimensional with their ground game. They didn't complete a pass all night, which is a weakness in the game. I'm not a big fan of a passing game, but a short screen pass is hard to defend against, and give you six or eight yards when you need it.

But, streaks can't last forever, and there's always next year. If I was the coach at Army, I'd start working on my passing game, cause he ain't got one right now.

Eh, the line judge was staring right at the ball, and coach N was right next to him. If anyone should have had it right, it should have been him. The announcers thought it was a dirty, but legal trick.

Of course, when are we going to solve problems like this, ball spots, and touchdowns with timeout buttons, RFID tags, transmitters, and lasers?

Right.
