he bought from an antique store. The medal is WWII vintage.
What is particularly upsetting is how methodical and diligent he is about the whole thing. It's not much of a stretch to see him trying the same technique on small animals or children, the sick fuck.

Until the late 90s, all purple hearts were "WW2 Vintage", regardless of when they were issued. The US military was expecting so many casualities for the aborted invasion of Mainland Japan, that they wound up sitting on huge stocks of purple hearts that they commisioned in expectation..

Future ward of the state, I agree, but why glorify insignificant ignorant f***s being insignificant ignorant f***s?
(Except for the sheer fun of playing "human piƱata", of course.

His entire life is and will be mainly the whole "pro-" argument in favor of green protein crackers.

"Some kid's doing something dumb for attention!"
"Quick, let's get outraged and give him as much as he wants!"

Medals... medals are meaningless. The only meaning is in the deeds... and the men... behind them.
This. The medal is almost meaningless by itself, and holds no value if not backed up by the citation.
I hold a few worthless medals, and some that have great meaning for me. One in particular of the worthless variety, I was working for a chickenshit colonel, and one day before he departed, he handed out some commendations. Had a ceremony, pinned medals on a half-dozen of us that had done particularly good work and made him look lots better than he was. However, he never wrote the citation, never signed the orders. I've got the tin-and-ribbon medal, but nothing to back it up, so the medal is worthless

They are almost all WWII vintage...
Remarkably, some 120,000 Purple Hearts are still in the hands of the Armed Services and are not only stocked at military supply depots, but also kept with major combat units and at field hospitals so they can be awarded without delay.
