Re: beer
LOL - "used beer" is ALWAYS free.

POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

Re: beer
How much is a beer in a the USA, generally speaking ?
In the UK I'd pay $4.80 for a pint of lager in a pub ( much more in the southern half of the country, especially London, not that I ever go there if I can help it )
In Spain its $3.24 for half a litre in a bar ( bit less than a UK pint )
Wine here is $1 a litre for the cheap stuff from the mercado

Re: beer
It depends on the beer. If you are courageous of heart and strong of stomach, you can drink brands such as Stag, Hamms, and Pabst Blue Ribbon rather cheaply. I worked in a liquor store about 10 years ago and the prices haven't changed that much for your standard Budweiser/Miller beer. Getting a six-pack of decent beer goes for around 8 dollars. That includes the various iterations of Samuel Adams or Schlafly Beer.
Schlafly is very good beer. It's worth the extra money compared even to Anheuser-Busch's premium brand, Michelob.
Oddly enough, Michelob was one of the sponsors of my recent 10k run. Beer and running are apparently a match made in heaven. The more you run, the more beer you get to drink. I think I've found a good reason to run more often.

Re: beer
I had made the assumption beer and wine would be cheaper in the US - it just goes to show...
The $1 wine here is drinkable ( in that it won't kill you
) but otherwise not too hot. I don't think any restaraunt anywhere in the developed world would get away with serving it. If I was to stand up now and look out the window I could see the vineyard where it's made, about half a klick away as the crow flies.

Re: beer
You should see the price of a pint of Guinness in Tokyo. My rough calculation at the time was around $16 (1640 yen, if I'm remembering correctly), and I wonder how much was the hotel bar's markup.

Alcohol is only cheaper when you bring it home to meet the family instead of meeting it in one tavern or another.
