Have you ever seen someone who you were embarrassed to have on your side, because he made everyone look bad? Yeah, one of those.
There's a firearms training company here in NJ called 'Gun for Hire'. I can't speak for the quality of their training, but I've seen reference to them in several places.
I had to go in to the office yesterday, we had an exercise that went on all day (DR). I finally got to go home late, I'm tired and cranky and NJ drivers suck even worse on weekends than on weekdays. I'm heading home on 46 westbound, and going through Little Falls, West Patterson, Totowa etc there's an odd obstruction up ahead in the left lane that's single-handedly causing a traffic jam. Somebody is left-lane camping, veering from side to side, then speeding up, then slowing down (way down, did I mention left lane camping?) and just generally driving like a teenaged girl who's texting.
I get closer and notice it's a big dark-colored SUV with some kind of big logo on the back. I get closer and it's 'Gun for Hire' in huge letters on the back. This is while the vehicle is still randomly altering speed from 45 to 75 mph and back with no noticeable pattern, while in the left lane but occasionally swerving out of it. Awesome. Eventually it slows down and moves one lane right, so I figure I can finally pass and be done with it. (It's covered in logos on the sides, too. It's a moving 'I'm representative of the "gun people" billboard'.) And as I'm passing it it swerves into my lane. I was expecting it, no contact. Asshole. He (and one other vehicle tailing close who appeared to be travelling as a unit) took the exit for the Willowbrook Mall.
Shithead, is committing the ONE cardinal never do in NJ, which is fucking with people while they're driving and causing a problem on the road. (People are car-obsessed here, the one thing they don't dare tax here is gasoline, there'd be lynch mobs.) You couldn't go out of your way to make gun people look less competent and trustworthy- I wouldn't trust that fucktard with a car, much less a gun, and he's supposed to be an instructor? Yeah, right.

Yup, I'm reminded of a local, state-level politician here. He's the type of "Religious Right" zealot, constantly with his nose in people's bedrooms, that makes people hate Republicans.
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

The guy who owns Gun for Hire is active on njgunforums. It could be someone who works for him. I'd ask him. I surely want to know if any of my employees are driving like an asshole.
P.S. NJ does have a gas tax. However, unlike almost all other taxes here, it is one of the lowest in the nation.

Yeah, New Jersey has a gasoline tax, just like everyone else.
LINKY! It's not as high as the national average, but it's there.

Yes, I know NJ gas taxes are non-zero. They're also unusually low, as opposed to pretty much every other type of tax where NJ's is unusually high (this comes up every time property taxes are mentioned- NJ homeowners pay in a month what most of the rest of you pay in a year).PawPaw wrote:Yeah, New Jersey has a gasoline tax, just like everyone else.

Rhetorical license, I claims it.

I'm not really impressed with that forum. I registered, looked around, didn't see all that much so didn't go back for a while. Forgot my password, and their automated 'we'll send you an email with a link to reset your password' system doesn't seem to work. It's not really worth my time. *shrug*rightisright wrote:The guy who owns Gun for Hire is active on njgunforums. It could be someone who works for him. I'd ask him. Edit:
Hmm. Had a thought. The one possible explanation for the way he was driving that *doesn't* involve him being stoned or on the receiving end of a bj, is that he was driving evasively to try to shed a road-rager. See my thread on dash cams.

There are quite a few idiots there. But it's good for local deals. I've purchased a few guns at good prices from members. In fact, later today I'm picking up an Israeli Mauser action/barrel from a member.Greg wrote:

NJ has the lowest fuel taxes in the NE, IIRC. They also are something like the 10th lowest in the nation. Gas would be even cheaper there if they got rid of the ridiculous mandatory pumping law.Greg wrote:Yes, I know NJ gas taxes are non-zero.
