Thumbs Up - Joe Bob Outfitters

Post by Netpackrat »

My friend and I recently found ourselves in need of two flash hiders in 9/16-24 thread for a pair of AK rifles, because that was the size that was most convenient for the gunsmith to turn them at, given the barrel diameters. It's a less common size (though not UNcommon) than say 1/2-28 or 5/8-24, and I did not find any inexpensive flash hiders like are available for the more common thread diameters. Plus, most everything is listed out of stock. We decided that since none of the options were going to be cheap, we might as well go all the way, and decided to use the "Phantom" flash hiders from Yankee Hill Machine with the QD suppressor mount. Since we've already paid for suppressor quality threading, even though neither of us has any immediate plans to buy a suppressor.

Did some googling around, and again, most of the usual places were out of stock of this item. YHM listed it on their site at $82.... But another place I hadn't heard of before had them, almost 20 dollars cheaper than that, with a note saying to contact them for availability, instead of showing it in or out of stock like most other items on their site. So I asked if they had two of them using the email contact form, late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. Heard back from the owner of the company on Sunday night, saying they were available. Placed the order Monday morning, and had them on Friday afternoon, Kansas to Alaska, USPS flat rate. Fast, smooth, and professional.

I'd never heard of them, and they are only about two hours away from me - so out here, that is close.
A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.

Yep, they're a great place. I ordered some lower parts kits back in December. I got them really fast too. Good company to do business with, and now one of my daily checks for goodies.

I've used them 2 or 3 times in the past with great results.

Now, if they would just get some good BCGs in stock!
