I'll stick with the cheaper suit. It "suits" my needs just fine and I won't get in a twist if I spill gasoline on it or my cat pukes up a hairball in my lap.

Got a couple fairly cheap JC Penney suits. I don't wear them much.

The material makes a big difference, more expensive suits generally have better materials, which makes them last longer and more comfortable to wear. If you wear suits a lot, you will notice the difference.

That said, you can find a pretty good ready to wear suit with good materials, and then have it fitted by a tailor to better suit your body. It will be a cheaper alternative, but it will be good enough if you don't live in your suit.

I like to wear a suit when I travel in my job. I find it's more comfortable to wear a suit when traveling for work, and practical to have all the pockets available for all sorts of things when working away from the office. And it does help to give a certain impression to the people you meet, which can be helpful. But that's pretty much the only time I wear a suit.
