Blackthorne, which is one of the common traditional species of hedges, and has been naturalized in the eastern US. It's particularly attractive as a hedgerow for two reasons - 1, it, along with Hawthorne are notorious for their particularly vicious thornes, and two, it's a fruiting plant, which provides the large black berries used in Sloe Gin.
