I think somebody isn't getting their inheritance when they grow up. Is it wrong that the first thing that went through my head when I saw this was "That kid handled the recoil like a champ"?

It's a classic case of monkey see monkey do.
Now if Dad had explained to Jr. that shooting your gun in the air is a STUPID thing to do, and why, perhaps Jr. would have been less apt to shoot Papa in the guts. That had to hurt like a bastard. Looked like a pretty good path towards the heart.
