As a quite the opposite story, about 25 years ago I had a buddy who was deer hunting in his stand in far northern NJ (on the border of PA by Dingmans Ferry). Dusk had set in, so he lowered his bow by rope to the ground as a prelude to walking out. As soon as he dropped the rope, he noticed a big male black bear coming up on his six. He stayed quiet hoping the bruin would pass him by. No such luck. The bear not only noticed him, it began shaking his tree!

Armed only with his folding skinner, he yelled as loud as he could at the beast. According to him, it took a good 10 minutes for the bear to leave. He walked the 30 minutes back to where he and my buds were staying with an arrow nocked! No word on whether he had to change his drawers or not.
