What does it look like when a Gun Counter member gets lost?

After the
family got lost in the cornfield maze, and the family got lost in the apple orchard, I figured it was time. What would the newspaper say was the defining characteristic of a Gun Counter member here getting lost? I'm reminded of this:
So here's mine:
"The lost hiker pulled out a VS-17 signal panel marker..."

Usually, I build a shelter, start a fire, shoot/make something to eat, kick back, I call it fun, lost is a state of mind.

"Incredibly, he had fashioned a smoker out of a tree and was 10+ hours into a 14 hour smoke of several venison roasts.
