It's probably cheaper where they put you up, as it's kind of an open secret that the hotels in Casinos are basically a loss leader to keep you gambling at their establishment..

Even if it is, I doubt if that was the reason. The info packet from the training facility had a list of hotels, and they put me in the one that was listed as being closest.

Was kind of neat, I ran some errands today while wearing just shorts and a tshirt and I was carrying multiple guns. 2 anyway. Quite doable.

And I may have finally managed to succeed in encouraging my wife to take the class to get her CCW.

Question for HTRN... Do you have any experience with the now out of production Lyman power feeds that mount to the left side of the table of a Bridgeport type mill? My friend raves about his Lyman; doesn't have anything good to say about the Servo type (whether genuine or clone) that mounts to the other end of the table.

My machine came with the ancient and huge gear driven BP factory power feed on the RH side. Since my X screw was shot anyway and that power feed uses a unique screw, I took the opportunity to replace it with the manual feed screw on the theory that the gear driven feed weighs a ton, takes up a lot of space on the side of the machine, has no replacement parts available, and it would have meant another 3 phase motor to convert over to single phase. Figured that when I was ready to get another power feed, would just get a Servo and be done with it or a used Lyman if I can find a decent deal on one.

FWIW, there was about .075" backlash in the X, and .025" in the Y, plus a huge amount of slop in the Y. Replaced the X screw and both feed nuts, got it down to less than .005" backlash in both axes, shimmed the gib for the Y and got rid of the slop. The ways are pretty worn so at some point in the future it will need to be rescraped, but it should do what I need it to do for at least a few years.

The Left side mount is going to be awkward to use if you're righthanded. If your friend is a southpaw, that may be why he likes it so much.

If you're hoping to score one, don't hold your breath, I don't think I've ere seen more than a couple of them ever for sale, and they were all mounted on a machine, and were not being sold separately. I would also point out that much of what you ascribe to the BP powerfeed - long out of production, and no parts available.

Btw, parts are available for certain model BP powerfeeds 6f & 8f mostly: https://www.machinerypartsdepot.com/sto ... age/709057

Personally, I'd get a servo 200 for the knee first, as ranking that up gets OLD fast. The downside is cost - you're talking close to a grand for a powerfeed.

Another option is to call Million Machinery and see what, if anything, he had in inventory.

Mostly looking for a second opinion, but yes many of the same concerns. There's one on Ebay right now but way overpriced for what it is IMO. Can't remember if he is left handed or not. Plan is to use it for a while before I get serious about a power feed. DRO will come first anyway, and still waiting for the electrician to upgrade my service. Apparently the power company will only accept a certain unit which of course is backordered. At least the line from the transformer will support the upgraded service so I won't have to have to dig.

6F and 8F supposed to be pretty nice, but then I would have to hunt one down, and again another unique lead screw. I am pretty sure the Servo is going to be the way to go if and when.

Probably the worst part about selling things on line is dealing with all the flakes.
I do a pretty good business April-May-June selling lawn mowers. I buy them from scrap dealers, from people on the 'net, or take them as trade in units.
Business has been better, seems that others have found out about this side hustle so where i used to get mowers for free now I gotta pay for them. And more competition selling machines.

DRO>Pf z>pf x>pf y is the order of upgrades I would do. I would also look into making a diy powerdrawbar.

That is really primitive the better designs incorporate an air cylinder to bring the butterfly impact down onto the drawbar
