You can live with 2 axis quite easy.

I can't speak about the hobby grade import readouts - my experience has been with brands like heidenhain, Newall, Anilam, Sony, etc.
Thanks. I get the impression that the ones I am looking at are not hobby grade.

Wondering how useful the "Z summing" function in their 4 axis units actually is, or if it would be better or simpler to just add a separate quill DRO later.

For the kind of money they're charging, I'd buy a Newall.

The problem for NPR, is, he keeps asking about stuff I really don't touch too much. Most of the mills I run have computers, tool changers, and hopefully touch probes( I used to think that they were biggest waste of money if you weren't running castings or extrusions( because they vary).

Now? I dread touching one of the few Hurcos at work without it(especially the lone 84 without it), as I means breaking out the Haimer and gauge block.

Socialism is really just a cargo cult for advanced societies.

I think you left out the word "cult" there amigo. ;)
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

I bet someone was angry about the vaccine results surveys for the federal workforce.

Teehee.

If they'd have been happy about those results we'd have been hearing about it on CNN and they'd be trumpeting it from the treetops.

Danke, fixed. There was a degree of poetry in the first version, but this makes more sense.

On a lighter note, if you were to come across a vanity plate that reads:

BLZ GRL

How would you parse that? After my first mildly disturbing attempt I noticed that the license plate holder had the logo of the local NHL team.
