Does anyone have this game technology and if so, what are your thoughts on it? My wife was looking to get a physical training game (Wii Fit), and possibly some Wii Sport games, such as Zelda and/or the 5-Game Sports pack. This stuff seems to be based on more physical action other than just using your thumbs.
Any information would be appreciated.

No kids, but my wife is highly sensitive to sunlight, and this one way we can get exercise at home and be entertained also.
She just called and asked if anyone know the difference between the regular console and the HD console? I'm tempted to make the assumption the HD is for High-Definition TV's, but I'm not sure. I know zip about console games.

there shouldnt be two different versions... the hardware only supports up to 480p anyways... the system isnt there for the graphics so much as the gameplay... and yes it is LOTS of fun.

the HD version probably comes with the HD cables... thats the only thing i can figure out

An ex-girlfriend has one.
Her (at the time) 8 year old and I used to play it all the time. It was great for bonding, great for getting him and his friends to burn off energy before bedtime during sleep overs.
We used to have other couples (adults) over and we would usually end up playing some of the sports games like bowling or tennis, AFTER we spent at least an hour fine tuning the appearance of the new people's wii character. It is really easy to pick up, but takes a WHILE to get good at some things.
So from young to Adult, everyone enjoyed it. I say go for it.
edit: if you aren't scared off by potential abuse they run about half price at pawn shops and so do the titles.

buy the console new... getting the factory warranty on one will save you the headaches that saving a few bucks would give ya...

Very fun console. Granted, you can play it sitting down, but where's the fun in that? The only bad thing about it is there isn't that many games out there for it yet.
I'm playing MLB 2K8 on it right now, my back and right arm are getting some faily good excersize. I need to start switch-hitting to get the full work out...
Wii sports is a blast, Boxing being the most challenging and aerobic. Not so much fun by yourself, but they do have online capability.
Wii is made for multiple players, so definately a great party system.

Awright. Well.
Wii Fit shouldn't be taken seriously as a fitness program. It works off of BMI, for one thing. For a good cardiovascular workout, you could get a wide variety of consoles, even last-gen ones like the PS2, a copy of Dance Dance Revolution and a quality pad (don't cheap out on 'em), and go to town. I have an Internet friend who lost around 300 pounds (he used to be huge) spending an hour playing DDR every day.
Wii Fit might work, it might not. The problem with the Wii is that many of its games are continuations of 20something-year-old franchises like Mario and Zelda which might leave newcomers more than a little perplexed. Also, a lot of the Wii's appeal comes from the "inventiveness" of waving the Wiimote around like a loon. The novelty will, eventually, wear off. Believe me.
Having said all that the Wii is much more accessible to the "casual" gamer because there are a lot of none-too-heavily involved titles out there for it. However, don't expect graphical awesomeness; the Wii is barely more advanced than the previous-generation Gamecube in that regard; most of its power is devoted to the motion sensor Wiimote nonsense.
