Thanks for the tip--Steel Panthers WWII and Steel Panthers MBT (modern) are also available as free downloads from Shrapnel Games/The Camo Workshop.

I'll be grabbing World at War post haste. 8-)

I'm still wanting turn-based online play head to head. The old SPI folio games would be great for this, hexwar.com seems to have the rights to the SPI catalog of games but they do PBEM exclusively. Have a mutually agreed upon time limit per turn and have at it. I useta work for Arnold Hedrick on the side and he poohpooh'd the idea, didn't think it was commercially viable. Must admit we were riding a different pony at the time (Air War IIId) and he was focused on 'community building'. Me , I think it's like self esteem and he was putting the cart before the nag, provide the forum and opportunity to test yourself and the 'community' will coalesce on it's own, or not. Focus on 'developing self esteem' and you produce arrogant, victoriously ignorant twits.

I have been playing Steel Panthers since it was originally a DOS game from SSI back in the early 90s.
