Good info.

But the Culture Wars were thrown in, too. It served no purpose to the article; there it is anyway.

Meh.
Worldwide shipping, global air travel.

"Don't get bitten by mosquitoes"??
Yeah, great advice from Slate, right up there with "Don't have an auto accident" and "Don't breathe (to avoid TB)".

Pity no one makes the connection to the rise of mosquito-vectored pestilence and says
"Bring back DDT!!!"

Let alone charging Rachel Carson and her ignorant twaddle with crimes against humanity, digging her up, removing her marker, and scattering her remains to the four winds, and according her deranged jeremiad the same level of respect accorded Mein Kampf.
To date she's only responsible for several times the death toll of the entire Nazi war machine, so fair is fair.
And tell Godwin to sit down and shut up in this case, because he's an over-quoted idiot too.

DDT did pose some issues - but we shouldn't have phased it out for disease control.

Insect born diseases can be horrific - sadly even the return yellow fever and malaria to NYC, probably, won't change their minds.

(It's a matter of when, not if, so long as those diseases are left to exist.)
