Beautiful Car!

Post by Darrell »

I was at the car wash this morning, and happened to see a guy and his wife wiping down a beautiful '56 Chevy Nomad. I asked if I might interrupt so I could admire the car, they graciously gave me the nickel tour. The guy said it was a 30 year old "resto-mod", as they'd call it nowadays... I thought it was a '55 at first, the taillights didn't look right. He said the oversized bullets in the taillights were actually from a Cadillac. The paint job was a sort of gray over teal two tone. The interior was all Cadillac, electric everything, seats and such, all reupholstered to match the exterior. The owner said everything under the skin was '60s Corvette--327 V8 engine, drivetrain, etc. The wheels were geniune '60s 'Vette knockoffs. What a beauty! I wish I'd had a camera with me,

I don't own a cell phone, Mike. I hate the damn things. I realize that I'm going to have to break down some day and get one, though. :P

Understand. When I bought my last cell phone (which work paid for since I was on call 24/7), I tried to find the most basic phone I could find, and one WITHOUT a camera (due to government security issues). When I discovered it would be MORE expensive to buy one without a camera than one with a camera, it became a moot point, so they told me to get the phone I WANTED since EVERYONE was having to deal with the phone camera issue. So, I picked a phone which I though might last a while, and have been using the SAME PHONE since late 2008 (and using the SAME original battery).

When I mention this at the phone store, they're AMAZED I'm still using the same phone, especially since I'm still on the ORIGINAL battery!!

Even so, I still don't use my phone camera that much and could easily go completely without it. There have been those instances where it HAS come in handy (like at car accidents, etc.), but in reality, it hasn't been with that much to my usage of the phone.

I'm almost of the opinion that the only phones you can buy now-a-days which don't have cameras or extra crap added to them are those sold through AARP (which I REFUSE to become a member of, since they're so damned anti-gun and a bunch of liberal politician supporting bags of crap!!).

Buy the phone YOU want, screw the rest!! :P :P :P :P ;) ;) ;)
