So, I'm watching the CMAs and continue to wonder why Taylor Swift sings flat and off key. Just how is she so popular?

I don't like country music, but I would think she is popular because she is hot....

Modern media and all....

Her voice is the worst I've heard all night.

I'm not a big fan of female country singers in general, but I tend to go for the less mainstream ones when I do listen, more folksy singers like Lucinda Williams, EmmyLou Harris and Julie Miller.

Taylor Swift is more pop than country. We don't have a country station on the radio near me, but her stuff gets played on all the pop stations everyone is so fond of nearly as often as Mylie Cyrus or the Black Eyed Peas.

Mylie is a horrid singer as well. Can't hold a note if her life depended on it.

Lol, well I never said that she was any good, just that she gets alot of air time. Girls want her life, and guys love the jailbait factor, as far as I can tell. Me, I just wish somebody would launch a radio station near me that doesnt play rap or this shitty techno-pop thats getting so much attention these days. I can't afford Sirius and CD's don't store great, plus it's dangerous to change them while I drive.

OK. Taylor just got entertainer of the year. I just don't know how to reply. So much better talent around and I'm not even a big country fan.

I wouldn't be supprised if she got sympathy votes because of Kanye West incident at the MTV awards.

This thread reminded me of the immortal Blues Brother line:

"What kind of music do you have here?"

"We have both kinds. Country and western."

I always thought that was a joke, until I arrived in Austin airport, when I heard what they were playing over the PA system. Fortunately, CC and Ms G&T rescued me quickly :-)
