Alright gang here is a new story I stole the idea from an episode of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone complex.
It's going to be a cyberpunk kinda deal. Well here goes nothing.

Content removed due to reworking to a newer much better version.

Cute!

With new advances in weapon design, materials, and propellants the maximum pressure, and average FPS of the old .45acp round were dramatically increased. The casing was lengthened one millimeter to prevent the new round from being chambered in older .45 ACP weapons to avoid catastrophic failures.

Officially designated 11.43x24mm AAP the name was soon shortened to 11.4 AAP, or .45 Advanced for the traditionalists. Or Eleven Four Auto.
Naturally, still fired by all real men from a 1911, as JMB (PBUH) intended... Right?

;)

Blade carries a Delta-Omega Arms, P-12 or DOA P-12 :-D

But yes they offer conversion kits for 1911's.

Already been done., although the Rowland is .057 longer(1.4mm), rather than 1mm(.0394)

And thus I bow down to the superior gun knowledge of the forum.

Hmm well I guess I need suggestions.

I don't want (pew pew) laser guns.

I don't want the characters using 2009 era weapons and rounds.

So I invented something new that had already been invented. Gosh.

Any suggestions for a new auto pistol round? Or should I stick with 11.4AAP and call it good?

How manageable is the recoil of the .460 Rowland in a full size auto?

You pretty much have to make up your own firearms like Masamune Shirow did...

You could work on a version of Metal Storm, but it will probably end up like the Dardick Trounds. Of course you could use them, perhaps they gained popularity?

You really have to go sci-fi with your imagination!

I shot one that was loaded hot(as in, piercing 3/4's of the primers hot) in a comped 1911 Gov't. This was when they first started coming out and I had never heard of them. Recoil was, erm, brisk. Not quite as bad as say, 44 mag 329 nightguards or Scandium 357 snubbies, but it was up there - think hotrodded 10mm in aluminum frame Commander for comparison.

The gun in question - is supposed to be exotic, commonplace, Handcannon, designed to defeat body armor, etc? How about a 475 Wildey cut back to .950ish, so it will fit in a 1911 sized pistol, firing 350grn hollow points? Make it piezo electric ignition(using a capacitor and the cycling of the action to charge it(meaning the dustcover is going to be clunky), use a combustible case, etc.. .475 is 12mm roughly.
