New-season TV programming designed to support Obama

A press release from the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) reveals that the 2010 television season (which starts rolling out right about now) will be themed around the White-House slogans of "volunteerism" and "service." The new multi-year EIF "IParticipate" industry-wide theme will promote volunteerism and activism in education, health care, environment, and other areas currently spotlighted by the Obama administration. IParticipate will funnel viewers to "service sites" such as Serve.gov, a White House-sponsored site that channels inquirers primarily to left-wing sites and causes such as Planned Parenthood.

The Obama-favoring themes will be taken up and featured as content by 60+ of the television programs in the fall season of TV programming. More info, including link to the original memo, here.

It's good to see the U.S. catching up with Venezuela, Cuba, Russia, and other countries where The Great Leader makes sure TV programming puts out The Correct Message and the the people think only The Correct Thoughts.

Side thought on this: Be sure you always watch what your children are watching. It's the nature of children that they will be swayed by whatever they see, even if you've taught them otherwise. If you can't be there to oversee what they watch, lock it out. At our home the only hours available for viewing M-F are 5pm to midnight; on weekends noon to midnight. That also has the effect of making people go do useful things instead of sitting around watching TV all day.

Off-topic but related: If you have satellite TV and the satellite receiver is wired into the Internet or phone line, you probably know that it is tracking and reporting everything you watch, information that is then sold and re-sold to others, including political groups and government.

But you can just disconnect it from the phone or Internet. Contrary to what the satellite company tells you, your satellite unit will continue to work just fine if you disconnect the phone and Internet from it. (Our satellite receivers have been disconnected from phone and cable for years.) The receiver will nag you once in a while and you won't be able to order PPV through the set, but satellite/cable PPV is a huge rip-off anyway. The sat receiver's program guide and software updates are downloaded from the satellite directly, so the only thing it really needs the outbound connection for is to upload your program data.

I'm surprised Obama hasn't tried to nationalize the tv stations yet. Oh wait they are doing it voluntarily.

Well, I guess this means the Emmys will be shorter this year, as all the awards will go to Obama.

Makes me wish back for the innocent days when G.I. Joe and Inspector Gadget simply warned us not to cause fires.
