Anyone else enjoy it as thoroughly as I did?

Many interesting thoughts from the end, but one is that how John got to be the leader of the resistance, by traveling forward in time? Intriguing angle.

Fox said it was the season ending episode, though they haven't picked up the show for next year, or so I read. It was a very interesting show, I was kinda scratching my head there at the end...

The way I understood the ending
is that John changed history by jumping forward in time. He skipped all of the 'build the resistance' stuff, so nobody knew who he was.
It will be interesting seeing what happens next.

Princewally I am fairly certain that there wont be a next season. The ratings have not been great and the show is not cheap to make. I think it's pretty obvious from the last several episodes that the produces don't expect a third season either.

As far as the episode goes the entire premise of the Terminator series has been that John Conner was the only one that could create and lead the resistance to the machines. Turns out that he wasn't as important as everyone thought he was.

Okay, let's play--John Connor sees Cameron with his brother. Is that the same terminator that was with John? Did she go through the years to meet him again in the future? Or is this before she went back to John in the past? Is she a real person??? Ummmm...

That has to be "Alison from Palmdale" from the episode of the same name. Remember when Cameron is losing it, wanders off to a kid shelter, and there are flash backs to the Terminator/later Cameron torturing Alison? She is later killed by Cameron. In the last minutes of the finale, you can see John thinking, "oh look there is Cameron..... wait a minute she is friendly with a dog.... that's not her."

Since the show is probably cancelled, like Chris says, time to take some leaps.

We never see future John (no Bale for the movie tie-in perhaps), so my theory is, this is how the real timeline happens. The lore is John gives humans hope and teaches them to fight the machines. He could just show up with his knowledge which is much more than anyone around. The resistance could be there, just not organized or trained. So does a 16 year old kid take over... maybe in time he does. Since we never see future John it could work.

The only problem is I remember in one episode, Derek saying they celebrated John's 30th birthday together.

Thoughts?

That bypasses the third movie, where he connects with the resistance from inside the caves. History gets to change when the entire series is about time travel, but the series is taking place between movies 2 and 3.

From what I understand the TV series is only based on the first two movies and disavows the third.

As far as the episode goes I think it is reasonably clear that John is sent into a future where he is not the vaunted leader of the resistance that everyone dies for but instead just a regular guy. Who is leading the resistance is not made clear, perhaps it is the Cameron/John Henry or the Reeses. The resistance has been obviously fighting for some time at this point, has been at least somewhat successful as they are still alive, and probably doesn't not really need any help from the no longer vaunted John Conner.

My take is that Kyle is the leader, hence Derek's statement that John is "famous" for taking his brother's coat, which would indicate Kyle is of great importance or reknown. Since John jumped forward, he never became the leader; his would-be father did.

Not sure where the John Henry/Cameron angle fits in, nor the Scottish Metal.
