AGREED! Another movie to make sure you see it on a BIG screen.

I think that's going to depend... Since this is a "reset" is this considered the Movie #1?

Or does it just tack on to the current list of movies, in which case, (I've lost count) is this an odd or even movie?

Standard scientific theory holds that Star Trek Even Number Good! Star Trek Odd Number Sucks!
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

It's #11 if the standard rules apply...

1: ST-TMP
2: Wrath of Khan
3: Search for Spock
4: Voyage Home
The movie that shall not be named
6: The Undiscovered Country (AKA the Apology)
7: Generations
8: First Contact
9: Insurrection
10: Nemesis

Maybe the reboot will be different, but I don't know. So far, I'm not very impressed with the picture of the new Enterprise. The saucer section & the warp nacelles are OK, but they've reduced the lower hull to complete fugly, IMHO.

There are two different ships shown in the trailer... one is the Constitution class Enterprise... the other is the USS Kelvin...

so far, all of the scenes and photos have made it hard to tell which is which... so i should hope that the Enterprise will remain accurate...

but also there is an understand that the launch of the 1701 is long before the original series... Kirk entered the academy in 2250... the old series didnt start until 2264... it would stand to reason that there could be significant changes to ship design in a 14 year time frame.

I'm looking forward to the lame-ass explanation that they're going to have to give for one of the scenes in the trailers: where Kirk stops his motorcycle to gaze at the construction of (presumably) the Enterprise atop great pillars -- on the plains of Iowa (or wherever the hell he's from), i.e., on Earth.

What, they're going to get it into space with a giant transporter? Or perhaps strap a few more SRBs on to the nacelles?

the newer info on it than that said that it made more sense to test and do the construction inside a gravity well such as on the surface of a planet than it did to do it in orbit... that way the stress testing would hold much higher tolerances...

According to The Making of Star Trek, the Enterprise was built on Earth but assembled in space.
I think its one of those geek things where we insist that these guys be accurate, so their from Hollywood , its not going to happen.
