Just started re-reading the Lost Regiment series by William R. Forstchen author of the Gamester Wars and others...I have just finished number three in the nine that I've got.

I like him a little better then Harry Turtledove who is one of my favourite authors...

Turtledove is pretty good - I really liked Guns from the South. It seems all it took for the South to win was 100,000 Russian Assault Rifles.

WOW! I haven't seen that in print in YEARS! Where did you find a copy, and do they have anymore?

May I suggest another author who died before his vision was finished? He wanted to write a series that encompassed the Indian Wars from the Fetterman Massacre to Wounded Knee. He only made it as far as the Nez Perce flight to Canada before succumbing to colon cancer. Read more here.

Terry C. Johnston's
Plainsmen Series
Sioux Dawn[/i] Fetterman Massacre
Red Cloud’s Revenge
The Stalkers
Black Sun
Devil’s Backbone
Shadow Riders
Dying Thunder
Blood Song
Reap the Whirlwind
Trumpet on the Land
A Cold Day in Hell
Wolf Mountain Moon
Ashes of Heaven
Cries From the Earth
Lay the Mountains Low
Turn the Stars Upside Down
Second book on the Nez Perce flight

He also had a series about the mountain men which was very well written.

I finally finished Shelby Foote's The Civil War: A Narrative, and started rereading the first volume.

If you like reading about native Americans, try George Bird Grinnell's The Fighting Cheyennes.

I always got a kick out of "Alas, Babylon". How often does one find a post-apopcalyptic classic written in their own back yard? Sadly, due to runaway development and a hippie infestation, running to the woods of central Florida is not really a SHTF secnario.

Back to the topic- I'm now reading "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!" by... Richard Feynman. And just finished "Carnage and Culture" by Victor Davis Hanson.

First Shirt,
Found it on the Internet with a small treasure trove of other post-apocalyptic books.
