...and SAB (Bud) looking at buying Miller including the ~27% share of Miller owned by Altria (formerly Phillip Morris).
Which has led to all sorts of speculation about further spirits industry consolidation like DEO merging with others.

Fuck. They own Stag, which is my favorite cheap beer.
Remember, folks, you can't spell "douche" without "Che."

I'll stick with Shiner Bock, it's at least a Texas beer and the Bock isn't too bad.

I mainly like the Witbier, Dubbel, Tripel, etc from St. Bernardus, Duvel, Hoegaarden, and Trappistes Rochefort. However outside of Hoegaarden this tends to get expensive fast. Luckily there are some domestic breweries such as New Belgium producing reasonable facsimiles of some of these styles.

Well, hell, I guess I live in the "downscale" neighborhood, locked forever in low-class poverty. Around here the beers most often found in iced-down coolers or the shop fridge are in cans and you'd die of thirst looking for a lambic or doppel. Shiner Bock's reserved for the house fridge, served with a steak dinner (the cheapest last-day-of-sale cuts, of course). We wear our best Tee Shirts for those occasions.
