Feel free to fisk on your own.
Some background on how I found out about this group.
The Wife is a member of a leadership group that has a broad cross section of our local movers and shakers (and wanna be's). One of the people who is in this group is a member of this religion. His parents are the founders. His parents are a woman and a woman who used to be a man.
I tell you that last bit, because I think it is an important clue to the puzzle of the desire of this "religion".
Other note: The want to celebrate diversity while working to create a collective cybermind. HUH, do they know what those words mean when strung together. Sigh, democrats.

Tried to read the Manifesto; eyes glazed over first two "sentences".

Ethical nanotechnology?
There's no such thing as ethical technology (nano or otherwise). Tech just IS, it's how it's USED that's ethical or not. Fire can be used to cook food or keep people from freezing to death, or it can be used to burn people at the stake. Carry that forth to nuclear reactions and plasma rifles in the 40 watt range.

I skimmed it and tried to get through the buzzwords.
Skipping all the buzzwords, it seems that the idea is to put nanobots into everyone, and then hook them up to some sort of central control that makes sure everyone thinks what they want them to think. Basically, they want to create a real Borg collective.

That calls for the use of quantum torpedoes posthaste.

Diversity and unity are mutually exclusive terms. I read of some Boulder, CO HS students saying "unity through diversity" a few years ago. That's an Orwellian statement if I ever saw one.

Perhaps a sort of M&M diversity; a rainbow of colors on the outside, same pernicious hateful statism in the inside.
And how come on this forum, of all forums, "Statist" and "Statism" get the red underlining as words not recognized by the dictionary? Or is that somehow specific to my computer?
