Warner Brothers is releasing a collection of all their John Wayne movies. Breitbart says

John Wayne: The Epic Collection Set for May 20 Release

John Wayne fans rejoice. On May 20, Warner Brothers releases a massive collection of 40 John Wayne films on DVD. The collection also includes a book listing his films and 17 pieces of memorabilia (script pages, correspondence, etc. ). There is also a DUKE belt buckle.

Amazon is selling the package for 115.00 -- which works out to a paltry $2.87 per film.

What's nice about the collection is that it includes a lot of the Duke's lesser known films that are expensive to purchase individually: Allegheny Uprising, Reunion In France, Tall In the Saddle (a favorite), Without Reservation, Tycoon, Big Jim McLain, Trouble Along the Way, The Sea Chase.

Problem is that I have most of them. Might be different if it was all blu-ray.

You can probably cherry pick the ones you want but don't have; Warner Bros.' website lets you order DVDs and BDs on demand, as one-offs.

I'm amazed they didn't burn all the copies of Big Jim McLain and claim a random lot fire.

The collection gives the false impression that Wayne did his best work for WB, but the reality is that with the Ted Turner merger some years back, WB acquired the rights to a host of pics that were never theirs then, but are now. I suppose we shold be happy Turner didn't crayon in colors for the B&W classics.
But at least it's mighty white of the studio to notice Wayne still pulls money out of people's pockets 35 years after he died, decades beyond any contractual obligation to pay residuals to the estate.
