Shoo, Man, You CRAZY!

I'm usually a computer jockey, working in planning, logistics, and management. Due to several folks being out with the flu during the winter, I found myself in the warehouse, managing a bunch of temp workers. Some decent folks fallen on temporary hard times, plus some fucking morons.
The morons…sharing tips on gaming the welfare system like they were sharing grandma's recipes. All Democrat voters, to be sure. Anyway, I guess they overheard me and one of the other managers talking, because one of them had this to say.
Shoo, Man You CRAZY! I mean, you nice and shit, but you talk some crazy shit.
All we were doing was discussing usual stuff like we would here…news, current events, etc. Apparently, this was so far above their frame of reference, that all they could connect it with was crazy talk.
This came to mind, after that experience…

I do know what you mean. I got it all…the…time in HS. It might have given me some trouble, if I hadn't also been an amateur boxer, co-captain of the wrestling team, and a Red Belt (brown belt) in TKD. It surprised me so much, because I haven't encountered it at ALL since the general studies classes in Undergrad.
With this being the default setting of mankind, no wonder we still don't have flying cars…
Edit: OK, I've encountered it, but only rarely since Undergrad. Most of that, I think, is having more control now over who I associate with.

You are sick and twisted…but you're my kind of sick and twisted. You also owe me a keyboard.

I have to catch myself using vocabulary words that people usually only see in writing, or people assume I'm a pretentious asshole...it usually surprises them after they learn that I'm also a gun-lover and a soldier.
Funny thing is, the hippies are shocked that I would EVER be one of those....teabagger types. And the rednecks find out my major and think I'm some kind of GFW granola cruncher.

Look, Holmes, all of us and Scotland Yard understand that you're looking for clues when you do it, but the rest of society has this quaint custom in expecting that when you do so, you actually wear some articles of clothing.
I also think calling intelligence a bell curve is a sop to the tender-hearted, contrary to available evidence.
The actual distribution is far more likely described by the playground slide sort of curve of "As x approaches 0, y approaches infinity, and vice versa" where x is IQ, and y is population.
I knew a student who asked a statistics professor if anyone could actually exist with an IQ of zero, and the prof, a humble amateur philosopher, replied "I don't know. I haven't met everyone yet."

You have to be able to speak to people in the language they can understand.
I don't have 18" biceps, bfd. Not everybody is going to be as smart as me. Doesn't make me a better person. I've also known a bunch of people who are smarter than I am, a few of them *much*. Many of them are assholes, and some of them are creepy.

I've always considered an intelligent individual to be more intelligent if they can "dumb down" their level so the less intelligent and/or ignorant can understand it.
