BBC Story

I know a lot of emphasis will be on him for Lawrence of Arabia, But I liked him in some of his "smaller" roles, such as Murphy's War, Night of the Generals Masada and King Ralph. Basically, if he was in a production, I knew there would be one performance worth watching whether I was interested in the subject matter or not.

My Favorite Year. Probably my favorite Peter O'Toole role.

I also liked him in "Creator," though it was a B-movie for teens, riding on the coattails of Weird Science and Real Genius. David Ogden Stiers was also in it.

Lion in Winter. Two great actors ripping the scenery to shreds. He and Kate did magnificently.

Lion in Winter was great acting. My Favorite Year was simply fun, I think as much for the actors as for the viewers.

Peter O'Toole was a phenomenal talent and an unquestionable acting legend, famous for delivering riveting performances throughout his career.
The Honorary Oscar was by way of an apology from AMPAS, for the unconscionable sin of nominating him for an acting Oscar eight times, and never awarding him one. Rectified in 2003, and somewhat mollified by his prior possession of the Golden Globe, the Emmy, as well as BAFTA, Irish and NZ acting honors. He initially declined the honor, hoping instead to "win the lovely bugger outright", and had he not already possessed that honorary Lifetime Oscar, he probably would have done just that in 2006 for Venus.
It's not a loss that he died at 81 looking at all he did, and the performances left behind, so much as an embarrassing acknowledgement that no one can live forever. What an incredible ride!

If you gentlemen havent caught it Richard Harris and Peter O'Toole were drinking budies and their stories and the trouble they got in to were funny as hell. Richard Harris iirc talked about their exploits on the the old Johny Carson. A life well lived and a great actor .

I give you The Stunt Man (or a little piece of it, anyway).
