It's racing for the millennials. It's entertaining and lots of action, short duration and looks fairly safe by racing standards. It gets called if conditions are deemed "too dangerous, there's no real speed to it, etc.
I think it takes some talent, but it can't really appeal to a driver - looks fun though.

It might be fun hobby racing though - we used to rent go kart tracks and have quite a bit if fun being absurdly aggressive in those crappy detuned nags.
