Just finished Hard Magic. It was awesome. Lets say there was going to be a movie made and you got to handle casting. Who would you pick?

I just finished the third in the series so let me take a crack.

Jake Sullivan: Adam Baldwin
Sally Fay Vierra: Chloe Grace Moretz
Black Jack Pershing: Robert Duval
Traveling Joe: Cheech Marin
John Moses Browning: Gene Hackman
Lance Talon: Sam Elliot
The Chairman: Ken Watenabe
Heinrich: Michael Fassbender
Pirate Bob Southunder: Jeff Bridges

That's all I got for now.

I know you are talking about Larry's book, but I also found this. Anybody know anything about it?

Looks like your stock standard urban fantasy chick novel.

And while have not read it I guarantee that it can hold a candle to the sheet awesomeness that is Corriea's Hard Magic series. If you can name one other set of books that has...
Magic Ninjas dueling on a flaming zeppelin.
A PI shooting a demon with a BAR
and a teleporting redneck killing gangsters
...then I would like to read it.

Well if you want to read a book by a plagiarist, look up Christopher Paolini or E.L. James. :P

In all seriousness though, Correia's Hard Magic is what urban fantasy should be: Interesting and fun. Right now the genre is almost entirely populated with Laurell K. Hamilton In Her Porn phase wannabes. Yeah, I might be missing out when my knee-jerk reaction to a book cover with a chick in skin-tight black clothes (extra points if the ensemble includes a midfriff shirt) is "NEXT!" but, well. There's a reason people judge books by their covers. It works.

Don't forget that they need an "unusual" name like Tolerance Daggers or some such and are usually hybrid "werewolf/demon/vampire" which gives them the unique ability to have intercourse with multiple races.
Seems like half of the shelves of a the Sci fi section of any bookstore are filled with crap like that.

I would reverse these two. Hackman isn't as slender as Duvall, and from the pictures I've seen of JMB, he seems like something of a beanpole.

I seem to remember Pershing also being quite skinny plus in the book he stricken with disease. We could throw in Clint Eastwood instead of Hackman...
