I grew up with this guys puppet shows, and later the live action series 'UFO' - they were the inspiration for the Team America puppets, if anyone on the planet DIDN'T know that

Sad news. Without him, Team America probably would never have happened.

I enjoyed
UFO and
Space:1999 growing up when
Star Trek was off the air and not yet into regular syndication in my area. Stupid in a lot of ways, but fun and a lot better than nothing.
In memory:
UFO
Space:1999

Lileks mentions Anderson's passing in his Bleat for today:

It features clips of Supercar, and Fireball XL-5:

The twin brother and I cut our teeth on both shows, filling pages and pages with drawings of both vehicles. I never saw UFO, and didn't care for Space 1999.

I remember watching Thunderbirds as a kid. Wild stuff.

Hey, any puppet show with a six wheel drive, pink Rolls Royce had to have something going for it.

+1
We had the Fireball xl5 playset as children.
I bought some Thunderbirds episodes on vhs and dvd recently. They hold up pretty well as children's shows.
when my brother and I complained about the lack of blast marks from the rockets around the pool, his wife said, c'mon guys, it's a kids show! And she reminded us of that conversation MONTHS later!

I did some work for the (Brief) Firestorm series, which was a Japanese co-production.
