Have zombies jumped the shark yet?

I've never read the books (Zombie Survival Guide, World War Z), are they any good? Reading the wiki article, sounds like they're slow zombies in the books, but they sure look fast in the movie.

World War Z is actually quite good, though I doubt the movie will be very faithful. The book is a series of interviews with survivors. The survival guide is just amusing and should in no way be taken seriously.

I've got the audiobook somewhere, it's not bad at all.

I do notice that the zombies in the trailer are of the fast and limber variety. Not in line with the book but more beleivable as world ending threat. I mean, come on, who is actually afraid of the slow variety?

Think of a couple of million of them coming at you slowly with only head shots able to stop them. Then think of the number of shooters who could consistently keep popping off head shots. I saw the preview of WWZ and think I probably won't even bother with Netflix. The book was actually pretty interesting as a technical study of the aftermath of an event.

I agree that a couple million slow zombies would be scary, it is just hard for me to imagine a slow zombie outbreak getting to that point (as long as we assume that bites or the only vector present) it seems that people would catch on soon enough to stay the hell away or shoot on site.

Two minutes after Z Balloon goes up, red dot sights will rule Z World. With apologies to Clint Smith.

Part of the premise of the book is that the government refused to take decisive action until it was too late and when they did take action they did the wrong thing. Sound familiar?

Finally got around to watching it on Netflix. Does it have anything to do with the book? No.
But as the book was a load of pretentious twaddle, that's a good thing. Unfortunately, the movie must be viewed as a comedy, because it's still that level of ridiculous.
