New show on CBS, taking place in Las Vegas in the early 60s, based on real life Rancher turned Las Vegas Sherriff(1961-1979) Ralph Lamb.

Chiklis gives a great performance as smart mob boss Vincent Savino(I particularly like how he reacted to one of men "softening up" a dealer without asking - shows that he's both ruthless AND smart).

You can watch the first episode here.

It isn't the greatest new show I've seen, but it's better than 90% of the crap their putting on this season. This, and Elementary seem to be the only new shows with any promise to them.

I liked it, not thrilled but enjoyed it. Think I'll skip the Holmes reboot.

I grew up in Las Vegas and still miss it (not that I want to go back after so many easterners moved there and f*cked it up). I still have some Ralph Lamb politicall stuff; wonder if its a good time to ebay it ;)

It will be nice to see recreations of things the way I remember them if they move forward enough; the flying saucer convention center, Landmark hotel, dusty main streets with many still open lots, McCarran with the gingerbread frontage, plenty of room to park almost everywhere...

My Las Vegas is gone :(
