Found myself on the roof top of a 12 story building at 5th and Broadway today.
We were down there at the studio/top floor loft of this guy working on daughter #3 portfolio.
Interesting old building. That's right there at the historic core of LA above the Pershing square(?) station. Quite a view of old and new LA from that vantage point.
At street level it was a bit of a flashback to living in the gut of Tacoma in the very early 80's. You all know the scene from any older downtown of a major city: A raggedy man squating & urinating on the sidewalk as my wife and daughter passed by. Another homeless looking guy shouting out incoherently at everything or nothing. All that mixed in with working class folks making their way through their days; a few odd out of towners (looking up... and pale in the sunlight); and a few high class/power class people sticking out as they drove past, pulled into secure day parking lots or walked by on their way into tall buildings in the area.LA day -- into the belly of the beast
