Really sad news, even though I hated her music.

I don't know about hating her music (to each their own, etc., etc.), I'll forever remember being 16 years old and stoned with my girlfriend and future wife (getting married at 24), standing in line for a ride at Disneyland in Anaheim, and looking down at the plaza below and watching her perform live. It was such a great performance that the line for the ride actually stopped moving and EVERYONE moved to the rails overlooking the plaza to watch & listen to her perform a couple of her songs. I mean the WHOLE place was transfixed and NOBODY cared that the line for the ride wasn't moving, everyone was too entertained watching and listening to her sing - I think it was [strike]MacArthur Park[/strike] Last Dance or something like that, but it was a LONG song with lots of impromptu performances by the musicians backing her up.

She appeared to be right at home on the stage, unlike many other performers who have to get over performing in public. The one time I saw her perform in public was awesome (although my judgement may have been clouded a *little* bit, but what about all the other people in line watching from the rails?), and I prefer to remember her that way - and it's a GREAT memory.

I'm sorry to hear she died from cancer, but I hope she didn't suffer. Having watched my roommate die from cancer, I KNOW it can be quite ugly with the things they go through, how their body functions start to fail and can make a mess in places you'd rather not have to deal with. I hope she went quickly and painlessly.

She gave a LOT of people pleasure by her performances - and what else can you ask for as a performer and singer?

May she rest in peace (and I hope, so shall we all).

I despise Disco, but she personally never did anything to deserve to suffer such a death. RIP.

I will honor her death by not listening to her music as I have not listened to it for the past 30+ years.
