Played Mass Effect 3 demo and Arkham City this weekend

Very impressed with both. Anyone else?

ME 3 should be a blast. The storyline looks epic, and I think that they've fixed some of the problems in ME2. Wife and I both played the multiplayer demo as well. Awesome. The combat is great, and the missions force the players to work together.

We own Arkham Asylum, which I thought was pretty good, but Arkham City already blows it out of the water. Open world map, side missions, and far more special attacks and abilities than its predecessor.

...and there went my day off...

I liked the Mass Effect 3 demo a lot. It's quite a bit more shooter oriented, but the powers certainly still impact game play. They have been significantly nerfed in multiplayer though. I cannot begin to express the surprise I felt when I warped a badly injured enemy only to have him kill me. Still, its a blast, though the difficulty in communicating with teammates is a bummer.

I am excited about ME 3 but I really don't see the point playing the demo when I intend to buy the game anyway. I did like Arkham City quite a bit and need to play the sandbox part a bit more.

I've been playing the ME3 demo in multiplayer a lot since it came out (since I have BF3, multiplayer unlocked early). It's not spoiling anything and it's giving me an edge over all the n00bs I'm going to pwn once the full version drops.

...Actually, since ME3 multiplayer is basically Horde Mode, it means that I'm going to have a clue when all my teammates are jackasses. But still! I won't be a jackass.

I'm really enjoying it.

EDIT: The trailer that just came out is pretty sweet too.

I have had ME3 on pre-order for sometime, and I loved the demo. I am not too keen on the multi-player since all my experiences (Red Dead Redemption) have been dealing with morons that just wanted to shoot me (and my horse). Since you have to play it for the best ending (as is my understanding), I'll have to find some good people. Let me know if anyone plays it on PS3.

From what I understand the multiplayer is optional. You'll have to do more single player work to get the resources needed. I certainly do hope this is the case as I have no desire to play this type of game with other people.

I just read this and quite frankly I am considering not buying the game now.

So you have to jump through some extra hoops to get the "And they all lived happily ever after, the end" ending. Whoop-de-doo.

It's not that it's extra hoops. Multiplayer should have nothing at all to do with the single player narrative. If I get a bad end because of my choices in the game then so be it, but I should not be able to circumvent that via multiplayer. Additionally according to the article to do well in multiplayer you need to buy (with real money) or earn unlockable items, requiring either a further outlay of cash or for me to play part of the game I have no interest in.

Yep, fuck that 'freemium' bullshit on a game people are paying full retail for. Among other dick moves....
