Battle: Los Angeles - Synopsis (and possible spoiler)

Did anyone else see "Battle: Los Angeles"?
I had to go by myself because no one was available on short notice, and I was the only one who had Friday off.

Anyway, it was all I expected, and hoped for. Lots of shooting and bombs, hand-held camera work, all jerky and too-fast panning. However, if I had to write a synopsis it would probably go like this:

"Battle: L.A. Synopsis:
A career Marine wrestles with the angst of being the only survivor of his previous unit. Before he can resign from the Corp., he is called back into combat. His new unit includes the brother of one of the dead in his previous unit.
Responsibility quickly falls to him when his new lieutenant pisses himself and sits in the corner whimpering.
He has to somehow earn the trust and respect of his new unit, and rescue endangered civilians, while struggling with self-doubt.
The movie is rife with Marine Corp honor and never-retreat attitude.

Oh, yeah, there’s also aliens."
I figure I'll be watching that one alone too -- considering the S&H is gone and I live in the estrogen zone.

Sorry I couldn't make it for Friday range day Tom. Let's hold onto that thought though. It just kept piling on right up to the last minute before this trip.

No worries. I had some other stuff come up and couldn't go anyway.
We'll try again in a couple weeks.
I should have a new gun by that time, too. :D

That'll be my first Friday back from Asia. Hopefully I'll be able to sneak some comp time in that day (or at least a mental health day). :-)

I saw it Sunday, I think you hit the nail on the head with your synopsis.

Guys, if we don't have time to make the day a range trip and have just a few hours to kill - we can always kill them at the movies watching such items as this. I know it's NOT the same as feeling the actual recoil from the guns, but it might be better than just bitching about some of the other crap going on now.

YMMV

Good flick. I enjoyed it.

Apparently the Critics hate it because it is not "morally complex" or some grabage like that, this is of course code meaning that they need to see one of the marines rape a baby or execute enemy wounded. That is the only way to provide balance don't ya know.
Make a movie that shows the US military doing what most of them do, an outstanding job that includes saving the lives of civilians, and it gets dismissed as propaganda. Pathetic.
My one major problem with the movie was the shaky cam film style which I loath.
