Link to the obit. Sadly, it was a long illness that got him, and not hanging off the side of a pirate battlecruiser as it launched.

Yeah you should definitely read it.
It's funny, even thinking about the book made me start listening to something from the Pixies Bossanova album. Now I'm listening to "All Over the World" and "Hang Wire" on near endless loop, trying not to post snippets of my favorite parts.

+1 to that, read the book. It falls into that best reads in sci-fi category that will never, ever wind up taking a trip to the used book store.

I'm reading it right now. Into the second section and I'm completely hooked. Poor Holly. I hope it works out well for him.

How'd you like it? There are sections of the 'puppy in a well' sequence that, the first time I read it, had me nearly unable to breathe.

I loved it. Too bad there aren't any sequels.
