I was watching a Death Wish marathon the other day and got to thinking about the whole Chuck Norris thing. I'm going to be honest here, Charles Bronson is much more of a Bad Ass in real life as well as in his movies than Chuck Norris. I mean really, In five movies he is a rich revenge bent killer. Pretty much the only redeeming light is that he loved his daughter and we can sympathize a little bit. Plus the Dirty Dozen, Hard Times, Once Upon a Time in the West, etc vs Breaker! Breaker! and Walker, Texas Ranger.
Thoughts?

A weak government usually remains a servant of citizens, while a strong government usually becomes the master of its subjects.

I will agree with all that has been said. But there is only one thing that Bronson didn't have. A weekly series that showed a roundhouse to be equal to a gun helps Chuck stay in popular culture.

Just a snide dig, CC. Your original Bronson url was missing the equals sign. One of the other Mod's must have fixed it. Feel free to take pot shots my way if you wish.CombatController wrote:LOL, I wish I got that joke but I am slow today....Rich wrote:

Re: Chuck Norris vs. Charles Bronson
I read somewhere that Bronson wanted to be known as a serious actor. I guess he got typecast, but hey, it paid the bills. I remember seeing him with Elizabeth Montgomery in a Twilight Zone episode early in their careers.
To be fair to Chuck Norris, he's done a lot over the years--the first thing I remember him in was Good Guys Wear Black, back in the '70s. I always liked Code of Silence, which was more of a cop movie than a chop sake film.
Geez, he's 70 years old!:

Re: Chuck Norris vs. Charles Bronson
I agree, Bronson was more of a badass in his characters, but he may not be one currently. He shed this mortal coil over 7 years ago.

The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .
