Movie Rentals to Un-Bore Yourself

There's just no way to be bored after watching these three movies. They represent the best of the best from 1980s comedies.

Real Genius (1985) with Val Kilmer. There may be a project in the works for a re-imagining with a possible release date of 2013, but anyone involved with that project will develop antibiotic-resistant syphilis for their role in tarnishing this hilarious movie.
Spies Like Us (1985) with Dan Akroyd and Chevy Chase. This is a movie I have to view with my hand on the pause button, because I laugh so hard I can't hear the movie anymore, with tears in my eyes, and I can barely breathe.
Stripes (1981) with Bill Murray and Harold Ramis. If you've been in the military, or been raised around the military culture, this will hit home in a big way.

The best thing about these movies is the quotes you remember decades later--
Real Genius - "I was hot, and I was hungry."
Spies Like Us - "Jesus, where did you learn your Russian? JCPenney?"
Stripes - "No, we're not homosexual, but we are *willing to learn*."

Also , The Evil Dead Trilogy, Evil Dead 1 , Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness, Also Mel Brooks, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.
Great unforgettable lines from Army of Darkness , 'Good, bad, I am the guy with the gun, boom' ,
'Are all men from the future loudmouth braggarts , nope just me baby , just me.'

And Young Frankenstein , ' A riot is and ugly thing , and its about time we had one '

For this time of year (Halloween), Return of the Living Dead is great. Gotta be the funniest of the zombie films. Forget the sequels, except for ROTLD3, which features a young Melinda Clarke (Nandi, the madame of the whorehouse in the Firefly episode Heart of Gold) as the hottest dead chick ever! :P

Can't leave out 'Better off Dead' or 'Spaceballs'.

"He keeps putting his testicles all over me."

"Mr. Bear, why'd you have to be so small?"

"It's got raisins in it.... you like raisins."

"Two dollars!"

During my time up in Iceland, we had a required movie watch list. Which included most of the movies already mentioned. My two favorites:

1941

"I been constipated all week. You ain't gettin' sh*t outa me! Hey boy, you watch that knife"

"Bombs! Where are the bombs! Don't you think if the Japanese had come all this way to attack us, they would have brought a few bombs along?"

Dr. Strangelove

"Survival kit contents check. In them you'll find: one forty-five caliber automatic; two boxes of ammunition; four days' concentrated emergency rations; one drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills; one miniature combination Russian phrase book and Bible; one hundred dollars in rubles; one hundred dollars in gold; nine packs of chewing gum; one issue of prophylactics; three lipsticks; three pair of nylon stockings. Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff."

Ghostbusters.
Big Trouble in Little China.

BTW I'm surprised to see appreciation for 1941. That movie is hilarious, but it was also a stupendous bomb. I'm one of *thousands* of people who saw it in theaters during its initial release.
