Having seen this abomination at Chris' blog, I just had to wonder... what would we consider to be the ne plus ultra of automotive styling? Perfection of line, style and shape on wheels. The greatest forms of automotive body sculpting?

In other words, a top 5 or so list of the best styled cars, in your opinion. Note- mechanics do not enter into it.

My top 5, in no real order:
1) The 1959 Corvette Stingray SS concept car.

2) Mercedes 300SL Gullwing

3)Ferrari 250 California Spyder

4) Jaguar XK-120

5) Bentley R Type Continental Fastback

64 Lincoln Continental Convertible belongs there, as does a 63 split window corvette, and a 59? Testa Rossa...

I see this as a list of cars whos shape and style is truly rememberable, and instantly recognizable. .So, being a bit the odd one out here, my list would be:

SAAB 96 Insantly recognizable, and made a distinct sound. Nicknamed "the halfpear". SAABs earlier models are somewhat frustrating to work on, rumor had it that SAAB just took one of their fighter jets and scaled it down to a car :D

Volvo Amazon This was *the* cool car in the rural areas when I grew up. Lots of kids interested in cars bought a used one and customized it. They were really cheap to buy used, usually in good condition, and extremely easy to work with. They also had a pretty good motor for an old car.

Volvo PV

Volkswagen Beetle the original VW ("the asphalt bubble")

Citroen CX
