K5BHP looks like a callsign from United States (DXCC Entity #291).

All could think about during that part was a Hi-power from K5 Arms in CT.

Yeah I ran the Ham call letters through one of those online DB's I think it was QRZ... It said unused. Oh well I guess I'll change it.

Oh, it hasn't been assigned yet (per the FCC online database). No reason to change it. I was just curious. Sorry to make you think otherwise.

Sorry for getting your hopes up on a completed chapter. As a peace offering I bring a snippet.

Okay what I really am doing is asking you guys to go and vote on my blog about the tip jar idea.

<snip>We climbed back into the trucks and headed down the road toward Groom Lake.

A few miles of barren wasteland later we approached Area 51 perimeter passing the signs stating “Use of deadly force authorized.” and “Photography prohibited.” I smiled as we passed an empty guard truck sitting on top of a hill. He had probably been waiting for the Alien chasing hippies in the Subaru wagon that had crashed a mile back.

It felt surreal traveling down a road that before the event would have gotten us arrested for trespassing. As we crested the next hill the infamous “Area-51” appeared below. Frankly it didn’t seem that impressive. All those appearances in books, movies, and alien cattle mutilation websites created a lot of hype. Sure there were a bunch of long runways hangars and the like but it just seemed like an odd airport in the desert.

Sarah was on the edge of her seat staring out the window. “This is SO cool! Grandpa talked about this place. He had engine trouble on a training flight near the no fly zone and actually landed on one of those runways over there. Men with machineguns drove out and met him at the plane. He was blindfolded and shoved into the back of a van and found himself inside a small interrogation room.”

“Are you sure he wasn’t just pulling your leg?”

“No. I mean yes. He was totally serious. My… dad believed him.”

“So what happened next?” I asked, still a bit dubious.

“Well the Area-51 workers fixed his jet and put him back in the cockpit. After removing his blindfold a security man told him to never speak of anything that he saw there.”

“What did he see?” I asked.

“Grandpa told me, ‘I didn’t see much.’”

I shook my head. “Let me guess, there wasn’t any paperwork on his little emergency landing.”

“Of course not. The military didn’t even acknowledge the existence of this place until 1994.”

We approached the gate; it was a simple guard shack with railroad track barriers. I half expected to see someone manning the gate but it was empty. We drove on through the gate toward the facility.

“So what do you think we’ll find here?” I asked Sarah.

She shrugged, “Well the theories vary quite a bit but the Roswell flying saucer is supposed to be stashed out here.”

“What about the Ark of the Covenant?” I asked.

“Huh?”

“You’re kidding me right? You’ve never seen the Indiana Jones movies?”

“Umm no.”

“Never mind.” I made a mental note to fix that oversight someday.
